Summary of Non-Delegable Duties

Under OAC 4715-11-06, the following procedures may not be delegated by a licensed dentist:

Definitive diagnosis and treatment planning
Final placement of fixed or removable appliances
Final removal of fixed appliances
Therapeutic intra-oral adjustment of fixed or removable appliances
Cutting procedures involving coronal or root tooth structure
Cutting procedures involving supportive tooth structures
Placement of the final root canal filling
Final impressions of tissue-bearing areas for prosthetic restorations (excluding athletic mouthguards and similar appliances)
Occlusal registration procedures for prosthetic restorations
Final placement of prefabricated or cast restorations or crowns
Retraction of the gingival sulcus prior to impression techniques
Procedures utilizing LASER technologies (with limited statutory exceptions)
Any other dental procedures prohibited by Ohio law or Administrative Code
