Summary of Non-Delegable Duties
Under OAC 4715-11-06, the following procedures may not be delegated by a licensed dentist:
- Definitive diagnosis and treatment planning
- Final placement of fixed or removable appliances
- Final removal of fixed appliances
- Therapeutic intra-oral adjustment of fixed or removable appliances
- Cutting procedures involving coronal or root tooth structure
- Cutting procedures involving supportive tooth structures
- Placement of the final root canal filling
- Final impressions of tissue-bearing areas for prosthetic restorations (excluding athletic mouthguards and similar appliances)
- Occlusal registration procedures for prosthetic restorations
- Final placement of prefabricated or cast restorations or crowns
- Retraction of the gingival sulcus prior to impression techniques
- Procedures utilizing LASER technologies (with limited statutory exceptions)
- Any other dental procedures prohibited by Ohio law or Administrative Code
